Pankaj Sharma is an investigative journalist, author and reputed columnist. He has served India’s largest media conglomerate, the Times of India group, at different journalistic positions for 27 years. He is also a socio-political activist.
He did his Bachelor of Arts with Hindi Literature, English Literature and Economics in 1977 from Vikram University and Master of Arts in English from Devi Ahilya University in 1979. He did his advanced Masters Diploma in Journalism, Television and Photography from IITJ, Budapest in 1983.
He has Covered special assignments for different Times-publications from United States of America, USSR, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Singapore, Hungary, Taiwan, Suriname, Netherlands, etc. He covered major political parties, ministries and the states. i.e. Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janta Party, Janta dal, Samajwadi Party, President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister, Defence, External Affairs, Finance, Petroleum, Aviation, Transport, Shipping, Railways, Tourism, etc. He also covered Rajiv Gandhi when he was Prime Minister and widely travelled with him.
Pankaj Sharma has covered all General Elections and major state elections held in India since1980. He also has an experience of covering the proceedings of Indian Parliament for more than three decades. He has interviewed several international personalities including heads of state. He also produced documentaries for television and anchored programs. He has been on several important government committees including India’s Central Board of Film Certification.
